Ed091 Tulips
Stitching

The universal use of this tulip design is such a quick and easy card topper to finish that I was enthused to make several greeting cards using different techniques, embellishments and colour combination.
The first card is stitched onto a white card using burgundy metallic thread, 2 strands of silver metallic thread and dark green embroidery floss.
I used a burgundy wet and dry pencil for shading the petals and pen and ink to draw and shade the single tulip.
The pink ribbon with the tiny bow is threaded through narrow slits and the sentiment is attached with the pearl split pin with a tiny pink ribbon and tails attached.
After securing the stitching with a blank backing sheet, I have mounted this onto a textured matching green card and used peel off strips as extra embellishments.
To complete the insert, I have drawn a field of tulips and added a sentiment to the left hand side and added a verse from the free section to the right hand side.
To complete the second card front I have printed the field of tulips, I have drawn using pen and ink, onto clear vellum.
I have then attached this over white card with the copied tulip design and stitched through both layers, using matching bright pink embroidery floss for the tulips, apple green embroidery floss for the stems and 2 strands of silver metallic thread for the vase.
I have also used the silver thread to over stitch the lower green stems. The backing sheets of pink with white spot, the matching pink backing sheet and the gloss 17.5 x 15 cm white main card are all edged with green using an alcohol pen.
I have attached a broad pink satin ribbon across the change in colour of the pink with white spot backing sheet and wrapped it around the 2 main backing sheets before attaching them to the card front.
I have then used padded D.S. tape to attach the completed topper and added a sentiment and a narrower ribbon bow in the same pink shade.
To make the topper for the third card, I have printed the tulips in the field onto a white card and then copied the stitching pattern onto this card.
I held together the card and a plain layer of clear vellum, using tiny bull dog clips and stitched them following the design using apple green embroidery floss, bright purple embroidery floss and 2 strands of silver metallic thread.
I shaded the tulips with a purple wet and dry pencil.
The purple mottled pattern backing sheet and the silver satin backing sheet are held together with D.S. tape and have silver grey grosgrain ribbon wrapped around and secured at the back before being attached using padded D.S. tape to the purple and white gingham 17.5 x 14cm card front.
I have added a raised and backed sentiment and a tiny matching bow. The purple Gingham is printed onto both sides of the main card and forms part of the insert. A wonderful enjoyable fulfilling days’ work with 3 beautiful cards completed each with a different look and appeal.
I can supply measurements and more detail if required. The purple mottled paper is a design by Jolis DeAngelis, cup9520_126 called Vonazide. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
