Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
Thank you Emy, for a design that has so many elements, for the purchasers of this sheet, to explore, and use their skills.
I pricked this design onto a textured white card, 13cm square.
I completed all the stitching first. These are the threads I used.
For the 2 main circles, I used a dark sky blue polyester thread. For the 10 point circles, I used a shiny polyester thread in royal blue, and I used this same thread for the 2 leaf shaped elements. For the orange squiggles, the thread is a bright orange cotton.
The bright yellow is also a cotton thread and I used this for the small swirls, and for the main beaded flower centre as well.
Once all the stitching was completed I added the beads.
I began with the 24 , pyramid shaped, faceted, clear blue glass beads, which are 4mm, in length, and width.
I then stitched the main flower, with 8 mauve pearlescent rice beads, each 8mm, in length.
I also used 2 of these same rice beads inside the leaf shapes and added a tiny 3mm artificial pearl bead, that, I had coloured with a dark blue permanent pen. I used a further 5 of these tiny coloured pearl beads in amongst the yellow swirls, as per the pattern instructions.
To complete the topper, I drew a single pansy, with a single stem and leaf, and coloured it all, with watercolour pencils.
I used padded tape, to attach the pansy to a 4.5cm diameter circle, and then double sided tape to attach this to the topper.
I edged the card with the dark blue pen before using padded tape to attach this to a backing sheet from craftsuprint, item cup808597117, with the title,Lilac and Blue Clematis background, by Pamela West. This sheet, I cut at 14cm square, and added peel-off strips, I had also coloured with the dark blue pen. I attached a blue ribbon with mauve spots, 1 cm in from the left hand edge, before I then used double sided tape to attach this, to the next deep purple, backing sheet, 15cm square, and the same tape to attach this to the main card.
The main card is 32cm x 17 cm, and for this, I used a pink card, to print the pink Clematis section of the same backing sheet, as before. I needed to print it twice, and extend the back of the card to make up the length I needed.
For the insert. I used the same backing sheet as before and used both the blue and the pink copies, and added a tiny, 7.1cm x 5.3cm, copy of the main card front and wrote the sentiment. I have made this card for my daughter, who is a Scorpio like myself.
A beautiful result for a beautiful design with very easy instructions to follow.
