Ed110 Christmas Churchwindow
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
A Beautifully designed Church Window. This definitely lends itself to a Religious Christmas scene, or a Wedding, or even a christening or naming day. However I chose the Christmas image using the 3 Kings and their gifts.
I pricked the pattern as per the sheet and instructions, onto a textured white card. I used 2 threads, and 3 different types of beads.
The threads that I used were both very fine metallic threads. One in gold and one in an alternating multi-coloured thread.
As they are very easily twisted, I used short lengths to avoid the tangles and kinks that often occur when using metallic threads.
I completed all the stitching first, before adding any beads.
The beads I used are all in the dark shades of luminescent finished beads.
For the horizontal lines, which I completed first, each line, starting from the left begins with a tiny seed bead, and ends with a seed bead. To complete both horizontal lines, I used, 16 tiny seed beads and, 8 rice beads.
This is the order, in which, I stitched the beads to form the horizontal lines.
1 seed bead, 1 rice bead, 2 seed beads, 1 rice bead, 2 seed beads, 1 rice bead, 2 seed beads, 1 rice bead, 1 seed bead.
I made sure each beads was caught well, using back stitching to keep them in the correct place.
For the vertical lines of the windows, I used the same tiny seed beads, and also, tiny 5mm tube beads
The order of the beads in the vertical lines of beads, starting at the top of the window, is as follows;
seed bead, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, 2 seed beads, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, 2 seed beads, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, seed bead, tube bead, 2 seed beads.
Where the 4 seed beads connected at the cross arms of the windows, I stitched them, like a tiny cross. If you look at a larger version of the finished card, you will be able to see what I mean.
For the Vertical lines, I used 26 tiny seed beads and 18 tiny tube beads
Before cutting out the shape of the actual window to mount it on a card, I used the fast drying liquid chalk,to smudge different colours in all the panes. I backed the stitched work with a light card, before cutting it. I made a blue snowy scene backing sheet, 9.5cm wide and 19 cm high, and used padded tape to attach this to a silver backing sheet 20 x 10.5cm, and padded tape to attach them both to the main white card 22 x 21cm. I then attached the window and the 3 Kings.
The three Kings is a no scissors cut-out, from, the treasure chest freebie. However, I did trim this to size. I added the silver peel-off strips and some snowflakes and stars.
For the insert, I used a print of the same blue snowy scene, and added the First verse of We 3 Kings, onto the left side of the insert, and the sentiment on the right hand side.
I am delighted with the result and will be able to use this design again for other celebrations which is an added bonus.
Thank You Emy A Big Hug.
