Ed098 Christmas Mandala
Stitching with beads

My special friends Christmas cards for 2018 are almost completed with adding this floral stitching and beading design by Emy van Schaik.
I really love her designs, and must have completed many Christmas and other designs over this las year, so I thank Emy, for offering your very fine work to all of us.
I began with a 15cm white card to copy the design onto, but before mounting it cut the size down to 11.5m square.
I have used all single metallic threads to complete the stitching, and all metallic threads double to attach the beads.
The outer circle is a bright red.
The wheel shape centre is a pale green, the petals are bright deep green and the inner circle is a textured gold thread.
The beads I have used are all metallic. I have used 8 tiny round red beads and 8 gold 0.5mm rice beads inside the petals and for the interesting edged design I have used 32 of the same gold rice beads.
To complete the beading for this design I used a total of 48 beads.
I defined the edge of the completed topper with a red pen and attached it using D.S. tape to a white card cut at 13cm square, which has the edge defined in red, allowing the topper more space at the top to allow room for the bow I have planned to attach.
I used the gold satin and organza ribbon attached vertically to the back of the white backing sheet before I have attached the main image and backing sheet to the green backing sheet using padded D.S tape.
The green backing sheet is cut at 14.5 x 14cm and I have secured the ribbon at the back of this using power red tape.
The white main card is cut at 29 x 16 cm and scored and folded before attaching it using D.S. tape.
The embellishments I have used are all peel off strips and decorations. I have tied the bow and secured it with red power tape.
To complete the insert I have used a Clare Walker design, cup814313_79993, Lace Effect , altering the colour hues to a bright green and adding a verse from the free Christmas list for friends and some peel off bells, I have attached to white card and coloured before attaching with D.S. tape, and a Christmas sentiment in bright red glitter texture.
I am sending you a virtual hug Emy with my grateful thanks. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
