Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I have made this card twice, as I really loved the result when I had completed the pink and blue toned card, and wondered how it would look using 2 colours to stitch the oval shape.
The result is the second card which is now a Christmas greeting card.
For both cards I have used the background sheet cup814313_79993, Christmas Lace Effect, a design by Clare Walker, and changed the size of the actual print and the colour of the print.
I have used polyester thread for the stitching on both cards. The pink background card is cut at 13 x 12.5 and the edge is defined with a dark blue pen.
I completed all the pale blue stitching and then used a darker blue for the swirls and leaf shape.
The small beads around the oval are blue gl ass seed beads with pink centres. I have displayed the design with the silver spacer and blue round glass bead at the top of the image.
The 5 tiny beads on the left are dark blue seed beads. I have also used 2 iridescent blue 0.7mm rice beads and one iridescent 0.5mm rice bead.
I have used 2 round blue glass beads, one of these is in the spacer and one is at the end of one of the leaves.
For the right hand side leaf shape I have varied the size of the 5 glass seed beads. The 3 floral embellishments are attached with padded D.S. tape. The backing sheets have their edges defined with the dark blue pen.
I attached the blue and mauve spot ribbon horizontally across the top third of the blue backing sheet. The stitched and beaded card is attached to the back of the pink backing sheet using padded D.S. tape. The pink backing sheet is attached using D.S tape to the blue backing sheet and then this topper is attached to the white card using D.S. tape.
I attached the bow using power tape. I have used the same pink lace effect backing sheet for the insert. To make the Christmas greeting card I have used a dark bright green and a bright red for the stitching of the oval shape and the same green for the swirls and the leaves.
I have edged the completed 13 x 12cm card topper with a gold metallic pen before attaching the beads. I have used red tiny round metallic beads for the oval shape and 2 different sized green glass seed beads for the groups of 5 beads, 3 red metallic 0.5mm rice beads, and a gold floral shaped spacer with a round 0.5mm red bead.
I added some gold stars and a Merry Christmas peel off which I have coloured using a green permanent pen.
The bells are peel off embellishments which I have coloured and then attached using padded D.S. squares. The 14 x 13cm green backing sheet is attached using padded D.S. tape, and then to the white card front using regular D.S. tape.
To make the insert I have used a free verse from the Christmas list and the insert supplied by Ceredwyn Macrae, cup830204_1398, Majestic Stag.
These 2 cards have shown the versatility of this delightful design by Emy van Sahaik. I know I will use this design for many occasions, using different thread, bead and backing sheet colours.
